Where to store your stuff (NOT in the garage) part 2

So!  You have cleared that garage out and hopefully you won't have much to store now.......OR WILL YOU?

So you park the car in the garage or contact the builders to come and make a room out of it for you.

AND then you store all your stuff in a Storage Pod.  Yes, a storage pod.  Heard of those?

There are many different kinds, like somebody ELSE'S empty garage maybe but here is the lowdown about Storefirst in Blackburn  (Well, Darwen actually).  It is such a neat, neat idea and it may save your marriage too!

It is located right alongside the M65 which goes from just south of Preston, crosses the M6 & M61 and ends at Colne.

The facilites available are little short of amazing.  I went to see it and the first thing I noticed was....It's absolutely huge!

Having trouble finding things you’ve stored in the garage (let alone making your way out of the car) because it’s full of tools, equipment, boxes and just plain junk? By simply sorting through your belongings, and binning things you don’t need anymore, you can reclaim your space in no time.
For Tara's secret to clutter free success watch the video:

Before you start
1. Make a date – or several, if your garage is really full – and set aside four hours per day for sorting through all your possessions. That’s probably about as long as you can go without feeling overwhelmed or exhausted.
2. Plan the clean-up for a sunny or rain-free day. Why? Because most of your things will end up outdoors as you sort your stuff into piles to keep, throw, move, donate, toss or sell.
3. Recruit a helper or two to assist you declutter your garage, especially when moving heavier items.
4. Hire a skip bin if you know you’re going to be throwing away a lot of junk.
5. Keep your driveway or lawn clear so you can easily go through your things. Just don’t put items near the road, otherwise people may think you’re giving them away! Go shopping for garbage bags, pegboards, hooks, lidded boxes (on castors, if possible), bins in various sizes and fixed storage systems, including shelves, cabinets and rails. Buy labels and marker pens, too. While you’re out, check if you’ll need any tools to assemble items. That way, you won’t face any delays when you get home.

On the day
6. Set the mood with music, drinks and snacks – they’ll keep your energy levels up.
7. Move everything out of the garage and onto the lawn or driveway. If your garage is really full, concentrate on one area at a time. Breaking the job down into manageable chunks means you’re more likely to start – and finish – the task at hand. You may find you need to set aside two or three days to organise everything.
8. Throw out junk as you goso you aren’t left with large mountains of garbage. Group similar items together, such as sporting equipment, garden products, power tools and so on.
9. Sweep out the empty garage and fasten any space-saving systems to the walls or ceiling. Elevate bicycles, canoes, etc, with wall-mount storage racks.
10. For smaller items, sort everything you want to keep into boxes, containers and cabinets, or store them neatly on shelves. Stash belongings together by function, which, along with descriptive labelling, will make it easier to find specific items in the future.

Log Cabin Treatment Panic

Posted by  on the Tuindeco blog

This article is soooooo long but I had to read it all because every bit of it answered questions for me that no-one else has ever been able to - so take it in instalments if necessary

You’ve got your brand new log cabin.  It’s up and it’s chucking it down, it’s January 2014 with record rainfall, floods everywhere and your poor log cabin is bare wood, soaked, you’ve got to treat it haven’t you? – PANIC!

NO you haven’t.  There is no panic whatsoever!  So wait a little while, relax, stop worrying about her, she’ll be fine for years!

This log cabin belongs to a friend of mine I supplied from Tuindeco years ago, apparently, after 12 years she’s still deciding on the right colour!  Girls!
Look at the state of the poor old thing, very neglected and unloved it would seem but it’s home to chickens on the veranda and guinea pigs inside during the winter and very much loved and used so she tells me.
I do despair, just look at it!  But the point of this is that it is not rotting and it’s still a very solid untreated log cabin.
A log cabin that has never been treated in it's twelve year life span.

Suppose I only want a bit?

Ok, so this company, Boston Sectional Buildings, can build you a sectional garage or workshop or shed OR EVEN, an array of garages if you want!!!    OK, so I am a woman and have to admit to being fairly impressed with someone who can build an ARRAY of garages.

On the other hand perhaps you only want someone to lay a base so you can build your own.  Well......they can do that too.

Or it could be that your garage roof is sadly dilapidated and needs replacing.  Well they can do that too.

Flat or Apex don't you know!

They can even make your existing garage wider or longer.

OK, OK, I get it!  I am very impressed now.  Do you know anyone who can fix misted double glazing?

You can visit Boston Sectional Buildings's website here:- http://www.bostonsectional.co.uk/
